Tips from Dallas
Tip #1: Get Committed
Ask yourself, "What do I want?" It's what we want that drives us. Once you figure out that you want something, then you need to set specific goals and write them down. If you take that step and imagine fulfilling those goals, you will achieve them. It's that simple.
Tip #2: Have a Positive Attitude
Start each day with Positive Attitude. Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it. In our personal and professional lives we are all constantly hit with one adversity after another -- most of which we have no control over, but the one thing we have total control over -- if we practice -- is our mindset.
If we really train our brains, then the four things we have total control over are:
- The way we REACT
- How we ADAPT
- How we BREATHE
- How we TAKE ACTION
I call it Living Life at 90% and it's the quickest way to Own Your Life.
Tip #3: Get Inspired
Before you get started with the YRG Fitness System, watch Arthur's video to see what is possible with YRG. I've seen Arthur's video thousands of times and it always inspires me. Arthur is certainly one of the greatest transformations in the history of fitness programs. Arthur proves that with YRG that anything is possible. Your troubles, complaints and issues will pale by comparison. Surely, if he can do it, so can you! Check out the testimonials tab at the top of the page to see other YRG transformations.
Tip #4: Get Accountable for What You Eat
Be aware of what you're putting in your mouth. That's another thing we all control. No one makes you eat the cheesecake or the French fries. If you really want to lose weight but haven't, try writing down what and when you eat. Be accountable for what you've put in your mouth. Don't lie to yourself. Accountability will help you reach your goals. Follow one of the eating plans in the YRG Program Guide to see results fast!
Tip #5: Eat Early
Try to finish eating before 7:30 PM. There is a reason they called breakfast "break the fast." While you're sleeping, your body needs and wants that time to rest and rehabilitate. If you eat late, your body has to work too hard to digest the food. Digesting food is the hardest thing your body does. That's also why you should really chew your food, to make it easier on your body. I have found eating food in a particular order works best for weight loss and digestion, and you can learn all about it in the YRG Program Guide.
Tip #6: Check Your Ego at the Door
Before you start the YRG Fitness System DVDs, make sure you check your ego at the door -- and I'm serious about this. The last thing I want is for you to push yourself so hard at the beginning that you don't get the long-term benefits of YRG. There will be positions that you cannot do when you start -- THAT'S FINE! The great thing about YRG is that it meets you wherever you are. YRG can be the easiest workout you've ever done, but if you really want to challenge yourself it can be one of the most challenging workouts as well. It's all about getting to know your body's limitations and setting appropriate goals. Modify the YRG positions wherever needed. In other words, make the YRG workout your own.
Tip #7: No Pain, No Gain... Right? ... WRONG!
We've all heard the expression “No pain, no gain right? WRONG! PAIN MEANS PAIN. Modify everything so you aren't in pain. Make YRG your own, and remember to check your ego at the door.
Tip #8: Breathe
Watch the section on the DVDs on breathing. I know it sounds unimportant, but I'm serious. Breathing is the most important thing we do (and most of us do it wrong!) and it will help you take your YRG workout to the next level.
Tip #9: Know and Stay in Your Fat Burning Zone
Wear your Heart Monitor at all times during your YRG workout. Know where your Fat Burning Zone is and do your best to stay there. If you're confused at all, go back to the Diamond Dozen DVD to learn how to find that magic number. When your heart rate is over your maximum number for more than a couple of minutes, disengage or ease up. Go into Safety Zone to bring your heart rate down to its Fat Burning Zone.
Tip #10: Learn About Dynamic Resistance
Dynamic Resistance is the secret to what the YRG workout. It's why you don't need weights to get strong. It's how you get an amazing cardio workout without running, biking or climbing. Learn how to use Dynamic Resistance on the Diamond Dozen disc to customize and personalize the YRG workouts to meet your specific needs.
Tip #11: Build a Strong Foundation
Know the Diamond Dozen. If you own these 13 specific moves you will have the foundation of the YRG workout, which will make doing every YRG workout much easier.
Tip #12: SAFETY ZONE Is Your Best Friend
It's going to be your favorite position. Use it whenever you need it. Keep your eye on your Heart Rate Monitor to see if you are in your Fat Burning zone.
Tip #13: Stay Motivated
If you ever start to feel discouraged, go watch Arthur's video again or go into the YRG Community and find encouragement -- it's everywhere! And remember, "It's not about how many times you fall down that counts, it's about how many times you get back up that matters."
Tip #14: Shaking Is Good
During the workout, different parts of your body may begin to shake. THAT'S GREAT! It means you're turning on muscles that haven't been on... well, maybe ever... ha! Shaking… "That's a Good Thing!"
Tip #15: All or Nothing
YRG... it's a Lifestyle. YRG is not just a workout or an eating plan... it's a Lifestyle. And to get the most benefit out of the YRG Fitness System, you've got to use the whole system. That's how I designed it and that's how it works. Doing just one piece and not the other will only get you part of the way there. Commit to the lifestyle and get the results you want!
